Piltown travelled to Tullogher on Sunday the 19th March 2017 for their JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior A League encounter with Tullogher Rosbercon. We had a mixed bag of weather conditions, ranging from warm & sunny to wet & windy!

Tullogher had an ideal start, scoring four points in the first seven minutes, with their points coming from Shane Ryan, Eoin Mullally and two from Brendan Lawler, one a converted free. A free conceded by Tullogher in the eight minute saw Conor Friend send in a high long-range free and Ian Long gathered up the breaking ball to score a lovely point and put Piltown on the scoreboard. John Kenny then won a Piltown puckout and quickly passed it to Philly Kenny who found Jamie Norris in the clear and Jamie make no mistake in sending it over the bar. Shane Ryan quickly added another point for Tullogher less than a minute later. Shane Doody, having a great game at wing back, drilled the ball up the centre to John Kenny & with a quick flick to Philly Kenny, Philly found the back of the net with a great goal in the 12th minute. Tullogher added three more points to their tally, one from Eoin Mullally and two from Brendan Lawler, one from a converted free.

Another ball from Shane Doody to John Kenny resulted in a fantastic long-range point from John Kenny. Two more points from Tullogher, one from a converted free, brought us to the 18th minute. John Kenny was instrumental in Piltown’s second goal of the afternoon, winning the puckout and passing it to Philly Kenny who linked up with Jamie Norris and Jamie’s goal in the 19th minute was unstoppable. Andrew Norris, one half of the midfield pairing with Aaron Gallagher, sent in a lovely ball to Jamie Norris & he found MJ Farrelly in the centre who tapped the ball over the bar for his first score of the afternoon. Two more points from Tullogher and a point from a converted free from John Kenny took us to half time. HT Piltown 2-5 Tullogher Rosbercon 0-13

Ian Long had a strong second half and was instrumental in Jamie Norris & Philly Kenny scoring two great points which took us to the 45th minute.

Tullogher never gave up trying to raise the green flag but our half-back and full-back line held strong and Shane Walsh’s, Thomas Murray’s & Kieran Flynn’s workrate contributed to denying them a goal. Tullogher & Piltown traded frees over the course of the next eight minutes, each scoring two apiece. Piltown’s last score came from another long-range free from Conor Friend, who found Ian Long and Ian scored a lovely point in the 56th minute.
