Our Junior panel opened their JJ Kavanagh & Sons All County League campaign with a win at home against Mount Leinster Rangers on the 11th March.
Mount Leinster Rangers quickly opened the scoring with a point in the first 30 seconds. Kevin Walsh, John Kenny & Shane O’Dwyer each pointed for Piltown in the first five minutes. There were two more points from Mount Leinster Rangers following which, Piltown dominated for the next 10 minutes with points from Ronan Ryan, Kevin Walsh (x2), Martin Power & a converted free from James Norris. Mount Leinster Rangers pointed another in the 17th minute and Kevin Walsh added another two to his tally, one from a converted free. Mount Leinster Rangers scored from a 65 in the 21st minutes, followed by a point from Martin Power from the puckout. A goal from Mount Leinster Rangers brought them back to within three points in the 25th minute and points from John Kenny & Mount Leinster Rangers took us to half time. Martin Power opened the second half scoring with a point from a converted free in the 31st minute. Mount Leinster Rangers & Kevin Walsh traded scores for the next 10 minutes with Mount Leinster Rangers adding six points to their tally, two from converted frees, & Kevin pointing three, two from converted frees. Aidan Nugent pointed his first of the afternoon in the 43rd minute, followed by a goal from Shane O’Dwyer some 30 seconds later. Another point from Mount Leinster Rangers & a converted free from Kevin Walsh took us to the 48th minute. Mount Leinster Rangers dominated for the next ten minutes, scoring six more points, four from converted frees. Piltown closed out the match with a converted free from Kevin Walsh & a point from Philly Kenny. FT score Piltown 1-20 Mount Leinster Rangers 1-19.
