Our u-14 footballers had a great win under lights in Piltown against Graigue Ballycallan in Round 2 of the Duggan Steel u-14 football league on the 17th February 2017. It was a dull, wet evening but the boys put in a fantastic performance despite the weather.

Braedon Wheeler opened Piltown’s scoring with two great points in the fourth & fifth minutes. Eoin Butler raised the first green flag of the evening with a fine goal in the 12th minute. Breadon added to his tally with another point in the 16th minute and a smart pass from Braedon to Fiachra Twohig saw Fiachra tap the ball over the bar. Another great run from Breadon following a pass from Neil Moriarty saw Braedon tap over his fourth point of the evening in the 18th minute. It was then Neil Moriarty’s turn to raise the green flag with a powerful long range shot in the 21st minute. Braedon again sent in a lovely ball, this time to Conor Hogan who pointed in the 23rd minute and Shane Morrissey closed out the first half with a cracking goal. The boys started the second half as they finished the first with a great goal from Emmet Flynn following a great pass to Emmet in the corner who then ran straight at the goal to raise the green flag in the 32nd minute. This was followed by points from Conor Hogan & Braedon Wheeler before Graigue Ballycallan scored their first point in the 39th minute. Emmet Flynn scored his second goal of the evening in the 42nd minute following a lovely pass in from Gavin Flynn. Graigue Ballycallan scored their second point of the game in the 49th minute and Emmet Flynn completed his hat-trick with a great goal to close out the scoring for the evening. The Piltown defence held firm this evening with some great blocking & defending from Kieran Kinsella, Conor Oakey, Tom Reid & Neil Moriarty.
